Have been a picker of vintage over 20 years developing my eye to create, here are a few of the things that I bought to sell.
They always said I had a creative eye.
I bought stuff that I found at estates entire contents were sold to me.
The old timers it seems we’re into upcycling long before we were, we have come up with living green, sustainable living, recycled reuse repurpose they are the ones who originated the idea. See they saved everything, because they had to many living thru the great depression.
They used feed sacks, sugar and flour sacks to make beautiful quilts that are valuable today is one example of recycled art. I see quilts as folk art not just a blanket to cover up at night, some would take as long as 2 years to make finding time here and there, when they had light to sew.
And would commonly be given as wedding gifts
many were never used and saved for years untouched.
The old timers taught me to be a picker, some had been doing it 35 and 45 years real pickers. Most didn’t go to garage sales you don’t have to if you know where to look.
One of the things they taught me they said never marry your junk son sell it and buy more because there is much out there if you know where to look.I have been to very few garage sales or even estate sales in my time.
I passed out business cards that said I Buy Junk
So I was known as the junkman, see they would start telling me how valuable this was or that was I would stop them and say I only want the junk. The pictures you see here is some of the junk.
Pretty good for a Junkman you think…
